SolarEdge Nexis is the company’s next-generation home battery, announced for 2026, built around a stackable block design that lets one system scale from a starter 4.9 kWh unit up to a full 78.4 kWh whole-home installation. Colorado’s grid has gotten less predictable, and wildfire-related shutoffs, winter storms, and peak-demand strain on Xcel Energy’s system all point the same direction: homeowners want backup power sized to how they actually live, not a one-size-fits-all box. Nexis is built around that problem. Instead of choosing between an undersized battery that can’t run your air conditioner and an oversized system you overpaid for, you stack only the capacity you need today, and add more blocks later if your needs grow.
Nexis is built from individual 4.9 kWh battery blocks that connect together, so the system you install is exactly the system your home needs, not a fixed unit size. A smaller home might run comfortably on two or three blocks; a larger home with a heat pump and EV charging might stack toward the top of the 78.4 kWh range. SolarEdge’s Simple-Click™ architecture is designed to make both the initial install and any future stacking straightforward for a certified installer, which typically means less onsite labor time compared to installing several separate battery units.
Most home batteries are sized to keep the essentials running, think lights, the fridge, WiFi, but stall out under the load of central air conditioning. Nexis is rated to support whole-home backup including HVAC systems up to 5 tons, so a properly sized system can keep your entire home, air conditioning included, running through an outage instead of forcing you to shed circuits.
Nexis is designed with a weather-resistant, flood-ready construction, a real consideration in a state where battery equipment has to handle hail, wide temperature swings, and mountain-adjacent microclimates depending on where you live along the Front Range. We’ll publish full environmental and IP ratings here as soon as SolarEdge releases its final spec sheet.
